“I have always been deeply concerned about the nation’s public school system challenges: disproportionate rates of illiteracy, basic skills deficiencies, and high drop-out rates for African-American and Latino/Hispanic students. While the magnitude of problems may be great, I believe that education reform can radically transform urban school systems, bridge the educational divide, and most importantly, change the academic lives and careers of our nation’s young people. I am both excited and humbled to be part of this movement to work to provide all students with a high-quality education, to positively impact student achievement, and to make a difference in the lives of America’s youth and families.”
Wendy Scott serves as director of compliance and technology for DC Prep, a charter management organization creating a system of high-performing charter schools in Washington, D.C.
